In 2013, Andy Wilkinson of Lubbock, Texas, published through the University of Oklahoma Press a coffee-table book, A Family of the Land: The Texas Photography of Guy Gillette, a photo-account of Gillette's career.
By 1876 a public school was held in a local log house. The Porter Place Ranch at Lovelady, founded in 1912 by V. "Hoyt" Porter, is the setting of many prized photographs by Porter's son-in-law, Guy Gillette, who spent many summers at the ranch with his wife, Doris Porter Gillette, and their two sons.




Lovelady is perhaps best known for The Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Eastham Unit, a medium security penitentiary - housing some 2,400 inmates for various offenses.This massive FBI Division covers nearly 125,000 square miles, throughout which nine million people reside.The FBI Dallas Division includes a main field office, which is located on One Justice Way, as well as 12 satellite (Resident Agencies) offices, which are strategically located throughout the territory: The FBI has had a presence in Dallas since its earliest days.The racial makeup of the city was 90.95% White, 7.40% Black, 0.16% Native American, 1.15% from other races, and 0.33% from two or more races.Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.12% of the population.
